Andris Roze is a master craftsman who makes traditional musical instruments. He made his first kokle in 1999 and has since started making basses, ģīgas and drums. He leads a musical instrument making workshop at the Drabeš Manor Craft House. Intarsia is a wood decoration technique that has been known in Europe since the 15th century. The ornament is created by placing metal wire into the wood. Historically, mother-of-pearl and ivory were also used in addition to wire.
