The Pähni forest residency took place in Võru County in July 2024 during the Aigu Om! festival. Together with writer Valdur Mikita, we took two experts in Japanese forest culture to the most exciting nature trails in Southeast Estonia. Yutaka Miura is an enthusiast of nature walks and conducts trips introducing the most exciting forests and special trees. Daizaburo Sakamoto’s mission is to revive the ancient practices of yamabushi, or mountain sages dedicated to wild nature. Ants Tammik was behind the camera so that we could share their first-hand experience with a wider audience.
