“Insectus” is an original sound work and performative journey created by John Grzinich. The work, based on the natural sounds of insects, is performed collectively by all those present. To participate in “Sound Swarm”, all you need is a smartphone that can read a QR code and a mobile browser. “Sound Swarm: Insectus” invites us, humans, to pay homage to the oldest sound-producing creatures on Earth. With what means can we convey the sonic and social nature of these insects? By performing an expressive swarm of insects in a way that allows the sounds of crickets, cicadas, and grasshoppers to resonate, we remind ourselves of the need to be attentive to them - listening with them as they emerge during their annual seasonal cycles.
